What if you believed and knew at your very core that life brings you what you need? This runs so contrary to what the ego believes. The ego doesn’t trust life and feels solely responsible for your survival—as if there is nothing else here supporting you—and it convinces you of this. The egoic mind plans, strategizes, and worries about survival. It scares you into believing that you can’t survive if you don’t listen to it. It’s not that the ego’s plans and strategies don’t work—they do—but often at a very great cost: happiness, peace, and joy. The thing is, you don’t need its plans because something else is living your life and everyone else’s just beautifully. This is how who you really are is experienced by the body-mind. This aliveness is the felt sense of who you really are and what you experience when you are in the now. When you are aligned with who you really are and not identified with the ego, you feel this aliveness, beingness, Presence energetically, and it is very pleasurable.

So much of what makes for true happiness is free—available to rich and poor alike. What gives essence joy, and therefore you, is experiencing life, expressing yourself, and serving others. For instance, it costs you nothing to experience the beauty of nature, to sing, or to speak kindly to others or in other ways serve them.
