![]() Psychologist Barbara Frederickson has found the antics of young patas monkeys, who enjoy flinging themselves onto saplings which catapult them in unexpected directions, an example and metaphor for her theory of positive emotions. She postualates that positive emotions are life saving and that "Over time, those with the most positive moments become more mindful and attentive, more accepting and purposeful, and more socially connected".
