John Cusack discussed an innovative solution to the housing crisis with Ariana Huffingon on HuffPostLive. The plan, devised by John Vlahoplus, chief stategy officer at Mortgage Resolution Partners, would fund money to local governments for a fee so that they could then use their powers of eminent doman to purchase underwater mortgages.
The city would then give homeowners the ability to refinance their mortgages so they could make lower payments. The plan bypasses Washington completely and operates on a civic level.
Kudos John for your passionate activism and for being "the change you want to see!"
NBCs new reality show "Stars Earn Stripes" premiered last night and has taken bootcamp workouts to an amusement park scale in its use of war as entertainment. It is a "Dancing With the Stars" format in which celebrities team up with U.S. military to compete in war-like-tasks minus the death factor, in spite of Dean Cain's repetitive mantra of "I know there is a chance I could die." At the end of the series, someone wins $100,000 for a veteran's or first-responder charity.
The episode featured training for a mission to infilitrate a hostile encampment. The contestants had to ride in a helicopter, jump in a lake, climb in a boat, pretend to be shot at by enemies, blow up an empty guard tower, shoot human-sized paper targets, wade through mud, move a box of ammunition into a building and blow up a building by push button. Oh...and let's not forget kicking in a door, entering a room and shooting a bunch of humanoid targets in the head.
