Imagine a life where you are senior to every life challenge. These difficulties have come to serve you.  Visualize yourself as pure Divine love and absolutely nothing else. Internalize a story that you do not have value, power and worth; you are it.  And no one and no thing on this planet has the power to change that.  Now aren’t you feeling better already?

When faced with a need to resolve a physical condition, no one ever says, “I am dealing with a carbon based dilemma. I need a biologically oriented panacea.” So, what separates a spiritual healing from a corporeal relevant reality? Only, our perception of the event. The truth of the matter is that we all existed as Spiritual creatures long before our physical bodies appeared on the planet, and we will exist long after our Earthly packaging has fallen to the wayside.  Our consciousness, our awareness is our Spiritual Nature, and it is designed to drive the physical, not the other way around. Our body is constructed to organize its intelligence around how our Spiritual Nature directs it.

Spiritual healing starts with perception - what we are giving our attention to. Coincidentally, this is where Spiritual dis-ease begins as well. It was the 18th century Scientist/Mystic Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) who stated it with precision when he wrote that a plethora of fears, insecurities, worries, neuroses and psychoses could be healed by knowing who and what we are.

Over two hundred years ago Swedenborg first conceived the phrase "you are what you love and you love whatever you give your attention to". The idea is that our aware-ness, our consciousness, and our Divinity are inseparable from love.  That means that whatever we give our attention to, we are also imbuing with the most powerful force in the Universe - love!  In practice, aligning ourselves with the truth about, who and what we are happens via our perception of ourselves. So when we give our attention to, “I’m the person who always loses the lottery, I’m always in the slowest lane on the freeway, or no matter what I wear, it always makes my butt look bigger than the Goodyear blimp,” then we love being less than, inferior and unlovable... shocking isn’t it?

It is no wonder that limited, dysfunctional self-identification results ultimately in mental and emotional illness. In actuality, these thought provoking illnesses are designed to act as a wake-up call. To awaken us to the reality that in no uncertain terms, we have surrendered our attention to fallacies, erroneous beliefs about our true nature, and to invite us to exchange these stories for the truth.

So what exactly is the truth about our health and human identity?  Swedenborg said it better than anyone else when he said that we do not have love.  Love is not a possession. It cannot be lost or stolen, bent, folded, stapled or mutilated.  You cannot find it on eBay.  I checked.  The auction expired two hours ago.  Only kidding.  Love is not a commodity to be traded for or bargained with.  We do not have love... we ARE love.  Love is our very being.  And when we know this no matter how many bad dates and ugly divorces, or ugly dates and bad divorces we go through, we never let our divinity suffer as a result.  We never regress into “not good enough” or “unlovable.”

As pure love, that means that we do not have value, power and worth; we ARE value, power and worth.  When did love ever lack for value, power, worth…or anything for that matter?  We no longer need to wait until family members or coworkers throw a few small “you finally have some value” crumbs our way.  We are not dependent upon our financial or social status for power.  It is ours for the claiming.

How many times has a situation like not being able to pay your bills, getting fired from a job, or just not getting that promotion robbed you of your self- esteem and sense of worth?  When you do not know who and what you are, you are vulnerable to the gyrations of the temporal world.  When you are aligned with the eternal truth of your Spiritual/human identity, you weather the storms of outrageous misfortune with your oneness to Divine love completely and unconditionally intact.

Swedenborg further develops this wisdom by asking us to expand this trust in ourselves and our lives, based on this identification with love.  To get to the next level, Swedenborg points out that we do not have God Consciousness; we are God Consciousness, because when was love ever separate from God? Then he asks, “How can God create a learning experience of itself it did not need?”  God is capable of many things, but creating a useless, unnecessary learning experience is not one of them.  Furthermore, we cannot create that experience before or after we needed it.  You get what you need, when you need it. That means that we can show up fearlessly for our lives, knowing that essentially, everything we experience is working for us!  It is all designed for the evolution of our Souls, for the benefit of our greater growth, or it would not be allowed to touch our lives!  Swedenborg says Divine Love and Wisdom promises us that we are, in fact, reaching enlightenment the fastest, most efficient way we can.  We do not have the ability, as love, to do anything else.

Imagine a life where you are senior to every life challenge. These difficulties have come to serve you.  Visualize yourself as pure Divine love and absolutely nothing else. Internalize a story that you do not have value, power and worth; you are it.  And no one and no thing on this planet has the power to change that.  Now aren’t you feeling better al-ready?
