Many of us are plagued with deadlines, routines and jam-packed work schedules - a fact of modern-day living. We’re preoccupied with work and barely have enough room to breathe properly or nurture our relationships. What ails us most, in my opinion, is how we deal with it. Time is neither scarce nor abundant, it just is. So it’s pointless to argue that we can balance everything in our lives given more time. What we pay attention to becomes our reality. There’s a limit to how long we can blame our circumstances, from television and computer screens to shiny gadgets delivering a virtual world. The golden era of yester-year versus the digital era - I wonder how much happier we really are? This state of concentrated attention we need most is the same state of flow proposed by positive psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi. What exactly, is flow? The author defines “flow” as completely focused motivation. To understand it experientially, recall episodes in your life when you felt most in tune with yourself and your environment. When were you last feeling in the zone? Whilst reading a novel? Walking the dog or exercising? Maybe you were meditating or taking a yoga class? Finding flow in the age of distraction brings depth and quality to our everyday experience. It’s during the state of flow or undivided attention that we achieve inner silence and clarity of mind. The positive energy we need most to combat the chaos outside radiates from here. The "art of Flowdreaming," developed by Summer McStravick is a technique for manifesting that’s intensely practical and extremely powerful. It’s also a riveting philosophy that helps explain the role of our consciousness in shaping our lives. At its heart, Flowdreaming teaches you how to define and program your future and how to interact with the living energies of our world to your best advantage. It preaches the principles of ease, bounty, and flow as our natural state, and shows us how consciousness is the energy that bridges the physical and non-physical and is what positions the people and situations in our lives. "I release my week into my flow and allow it bring together the best opportunities and situations for me." Summer McStravick What about you? How do you find your state of flow?
